10th Anniversary

In August 1995, fans came together in Los Angeles to celebrate their favorite television show and to meet fellow fans in person. FoLC, as Fans of Lois & Clark are collectively known, decided against a convention atmosphere and opted instead for a more intimate gathering.

The festival included a costume contest, charity auction, tour of Warner Bros. studio and a banquet. In between those main events, fans watched episodes of Lois & Clark, homemade music videos and hoped when the third season of Lois & Clark debuted, that Lois would be in on Clark's secret.

A decade later fans still participated in a costume contest, charity auction, a tour of Warner Bros. studio and held a banquet, but they were also celebrating Lois & Clark's first season finally being available on DVD. No longer having to worry if Lois would be let in on Clark's secret, the big question was: whether the second season of the series would be released on DVD. The answer was a resounding yes.

Scott Devine, who was given the task of assembling extras for Lois & Clark's second season DVD, contacted LAFF organizer Chris Paterson to ask if he could film fans at the FoLC fest and she happily agreed.

Scott and his crew came to the auction and banquet and set up a small area where each fan was asked questions ranging from why they loved the show to what was their favorite Clark Kent necktie.

Just prior to the banquet K Callan (Martha) and Eddie Jones (Jonathan) put in an appearance and stayed for about an hour posing with fans and signing autographs.

Always a favorite with fans, K and Eddie's portrayal of the "strange visitor's" Earth parents had a genuine warm and endearing quality. It wasn't hard to believe that this kindly couple raised the world's greatest hero.

Proving that sometimes villains are the nicest guys, Jim Beaver, who played Henry (Golden Boy) Barnes in I'm Looking Through, entertained fans at the banquet.

Jim is also quite knowledgeable about Superman in general, particularly The Adventures of Superman starring George Reeves. He maintained a friendship with cast members from that series for many years and was also acquainted with members of George Reeves' family.

And finally the gracious Beverly Garland. Ms. Garland's career spans decades of movies and television, but she will always be best known to Lois & Clark fans as Lois's sometimes bitter, but always hilarious mother.

For the past several years the FoLC fests have been held at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn and I gratefully give her charming hotel and hospitality a plug.
