Life's a beach and then you ... disguise
It takes a lot of devotion or craziness to tattoo your love on your thigh, but that's just what two fans revealed this year at the beach picnic. Deb and Joan showed off their Superman tattoos as other fans judiciously avoided entering the ocean. Some female fans found a few surfers to ogle in Malibu, but most fans stuck to the picnic area and chatted. As the sun began to set and the sunburn began to set in, the fans traveled back to the hotel to get ready for the costume contest.
However, as fans entered in their costumes, they found a pleasant surprise. Beverly Garland, owner of the hotel, but more important to fans, the actress who portrayed Lois Lane's neurotic mother, had dropped by for a visit. Intending to stay only 15 minutes, she stayed for over two hours posing with fans and signing autographs. She talked at length about her acting career and a few inside
secrets from her days as a star on the series My Three Sons. She said
her costar Fred MacMurray was gone from the set quite a bit golfing or
relaxing elsewhere. Often she and the other actors from the show had to
say their lines to a stand-in and Fred would film his reactions and
dialogue later.
After Beverly finished signing autographs, the costume contest began. Among the costumes were Lois Lane's clone, Perry as Elvis, Mindy Church, complete with cigar, Jzuk Mao from Chi of Steel, and even Clark's abused pillow from Honeymoon in Metropolis put in an appearance. Who won? Everyone of course. |

What do pizza and Dean Cain have in common?
They both make women drool.
Friday night was the L&C episode viewing and pizza party. It's somehow appropriate that fans enjoyed pizza while watching episodes since pizza was a popular food item on the series. It was even shared by Lois and Clark at their private wedding rehearsal dinner.
Keeping with the second season theme, fans watched Season's Greedings, The Phoenix and Tempus Fugitive, which brings up a great facet to the series -- it is highly quotable. It's almost impossible not to shout "How dumb was she?" along with Tempus as he taunts Lois, or smile when Lois informs Superman, "You got a little shmutz here on your S." Of course no words are necessary in the champagne metaphor scene where Clark literally pops his cork watching Lois's silhouette disrobe. The series also has what TV Land likes to call "rewatchability." There's something about a timeless and mythic romance that never fades even after multiple viewings. But best of all, of course, is viewing the episodes with fellow fans. |
