Studio tours, Ma & Pa and the Banquet

I'll ballyhoo greetings to you, I'm goin' Hollywood
Fans visited both Warner Bros. and Universal studios during LAFF. Universal is of renewed interest because Teri Hatcher's series Desperate Housewives is filmed there. However, there is also a Lois and Clark connection to Universal.
Warner Bros. was unusually busy at the time Just Say Noah was being filmed. The script called for cabin sets, but all available soundstage space was already booked for other projects. Fortunately Universal Studios still had its cabin sets up from the movie The Great Outdoors. Dean and Teri were sent to Universal to film the cabin scenes and that fact was mentioned on the Universal Studio Tour that year.
Fans pick some of the remaining familiar landmarks from the Lois and Clark days, though today they are used on other TV shows and movies. The posed in the Smallville gazebo that Lord Nor had used to propose his overthrow of Earth. Fans also posed on the steps of the Kent farmhouse and the subway that was erected in front of the Daily Planet. |

They're the only parents Clark ever knew
They're the only parents Clark ever wanted
K Callan and Eddie Jones are just as warm and approachable in person as they were in their familiar roles as Martha and Jonathan Kent. They arrived just before the banquet and signed autographs for the fans, many of whom commented that they could have easily slipped back into character considering how little they had changed since the series ended.
If you're wondering what they're up to these days, Eddie Jones is starting work on a new play and you can look for K Callan on a new episode of Nip/Tuck. |

A hero is only as strong as his villains
Fans got all gussied up for the LAFF banquet, but after K and Eddie left they were very pleased to meet Jim Beaver and hear his great memories of working on Lois and Clark.
There are a few different types of prop guns. Some fire blanks, some are metal and look like real guns, but don't fire and there is a special type made specifically for Superman. A rubber gun that can be bent and deformed easily. Jim said that Dean was supposed to bend the typical prop rubber gun, but forgot to wait for it to be brought into the shot. Instead he grabbed the metal prop gun and broke it. The scene had to be reshot with the rubber gun. Jim also said that the director instructed Dean to lift him. Though Jim is 6'1 and weighed 175 pounds, he said Dean lifted him easily. Unfortunately the lift was not shown in the episode, but Jim was proud to be the first villain to bounce bullets off of Superman's chest on Lois and Clark. |
